Requirements

In order to run SRCA you will need:

  • A fast PC with a lot of memory (200Mhz and 128MB RAM recommended minimum)
  • Microsoft Windows NT 4 (or later), or Microsoft Windows 95 (or later), or Linux. (For other systems, see note below.)
  • The Microsoft VM supplied with IE5.5, Sun JDK 1.3 Standard Edition. (For other systems, see note below.)
  • A High resolution 16bit color display (256 color is adequate but doesn't look as nice)

SRCA has been tested on Windows NT 4 using Microsoft VM and Sun's Java 1.3.1 Standard Edition with hotspot client, and on Windows 95 using Microsoft VM. Also tested on SuSe Linux 7.3 using Sun Java 1.3.1 Standard Edition with hotspot client.

Note: Other Systems: Since this is a Java application, it should also work on operating systems other than those listed. All that is required, in theory, is a Java VM that supports Java 1.1.4 or later. However, I have only tested SRCA on the systems listed above.

Download File

Download file SRCA version 4.0 (approximately 400KB) to a new subdirectory called 'SrCa'. The usual disclaimers apply i.e. you use this application entirely at your own risk etc.

Installation

Extract the files from the downloaded (zip) file to the SrCa directory that you created in the step. You should end up with the following sub-directories and files:

  • SrCa.exe - WIN32 executable (still requires Microsoft VM)
  • SrCaJdk13.bat (requires a Java 1.3 compatible VM)
  • SrCa.jar - jar archive containing class files (called from above batch file)
  • data - a directory containing a number of pre-defined pattern and palette data files that can be loaded by the application.
  • src - a directory containing a selection of source files to help you understand the SRL rules.
  • doc - a directory containing some document pages for the source files contained in the src directory.
  • SrCa.html - instructions for use and other information.

Run the bat or exe file from this location i.e. the SrCa directory. See 'srca.html' for details.
